My name is Jo, I live and work near the beautiful Cotswold town of Cirencester in Gloucestershire.
I have been creating mosaics for the past 20years and find that I am very much inspired by the fauna and flora that is all about me in this wonderful part of the world, other inspirations have to be the stunning Roman mosaics that have been discovered in the local area, and can be seen at the Corinium Museum or at Chedworth Roman Villa. Another big influence to my work would have to be Folk Art, I love the simplicity of this style of work, with clean lines, strong forms, and with blocks of colour which really work well in my style of mosaics.
I work predominantly with Portuguese and French unglazed Ceramic tiles, these come in an attractive range of muted colours which give a calm traditional feel to the mosaics, I also use murano millefiori, glazed ceramic tiles and occasionally recycled glass tiles to add pockets of depth and splashes of bright colour.
I create work for exhibitions, art and craft Galleries, local outlets including the National Trust at Chedworth Villa and I also work to commission.
